From Amsterdam to Berlin

///EVENTS

Just arrived in Berlin! Still a bit exhausted of a very short night after a successful Streetlab Business Case talk show. Last blog-posts I dropped some links and pictures of my own talk, and now some more of the other guests. EnYOI!

Strawberry Earth’s Film Festival video by Alexis Blake from Strawberry Earth on Vimeo.

Amongst an informal setting with approximately 40 visitors, journalist Simone Weimans interviewed Ikenna Azuike from Strawberry Earth about their kool carrotmobs, Dutch Environmental Film Festival, upcoming fashion events and their vision and strategy on using social media and a creative network to paint the world stylish and green.

Otto von Bush, well known of his work and visions as an artist, activist and fashion theorist gave us a very inspiring talk by skype video conference call. He is a very enthusiastic entertaining speaker and we received some good responses of the audience. Check out his ideas and workshops about ‘hacking the system in fashion’ at his site Selfpassage.

Holly Syrett talked about the Green Fashion Competition which will be launched next week 16 July during Amsterdam International Fashion Week.  The entrepreneurs behind the ‘co-designed sneaker’ label !SYOU, Jaap and Merijn, told their alluring story about their broad and international network of talented souls.

Visual via: THEKEY.TO ACCELERATION features New York artist, Jeremy Dean and his series “Back To The Futurama.”

By checking out the websites of the winning events that I will visit these next two days : TheKey, GREEN Showroom and Berlinordik, it makes me happy to get this MEGA boot of energy! Yeah guys, Berlin is HOT when we are talking about the Green Revolution! Keep you posted on my findings. (see as well the BERLIN tips on Ecofashionworld).

Love theKEY Theme: ‘THEKEY.TO celebrates its third edition with the motto ACCELERATION. This concept aims to provoke a new perspective on green products. No longer are they an economic side issue, but instead they are innovative, breaking the boundaries both technologically and aesthetically.’

Shake hands with a real Transformer and sit back at the Graffitti bench.

Did you also grew up with those tough transformers? According to the designers of Studio Re-Creation Jennifer Kanary and Nikola Nikolov anyone should give their first car a second life. This art sculpture is created out of their first lada.  Mission is to create new objects out of anything that is no longer being used. This week you can admire these Dutch design pieces at the platform Tuttobene during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, the world’s most important design fair.

Caleidoscope inside_Frederike Top

With “Caleidoscope” product designer Frederike Top indulges in her fascination with light. Though the outside of the lamp looks almost industrial, the inside is a play with light and colors, similar to those of a real kaleidoscope.

Frans Willigers will show his bench for public spaces called “Graffitti” The bench is designed as a stylish “tag” that adds graphic lines to any landscape. Although originally created as street furniture, the design is also suitable for indoor events such as fairs. Currently, the bench is made out of coated waterproof multiplex, but studies show that different materials can be used.

2010 METROPOLIS Next Generation Design Competition

///DESIGN

Well, it is probably to late to join this competition for this year (you have a few hours left..), but keep an eye on the winning designers. The Metropolis Next Generation® Design Competition was created in 2003 to promote activism, social involvement, and entrepreneurship in young designers. Metropolis saw the need for a new type of competition, one that went beyond the usual beauty pageants for finished projects, a competition that would generate and reward ideas.

2009

My vision on the world; by YOI:

YOI

YOI:

'The deeper meaning behind this blog goes back to my personal vision on the world: 'YOI:'

YOI: is based on the ‘bigger picture’ in which we are on our way to a more beautiful and balanced world wherein sustainable thinking, design, fashion, people and business will make the difference.

In terms of the massive and dramatic environmental/ economic crisis that we are facing, this change is absolutely needed.

Basically the essence of this ‘awareness movement’ takes place in the being and hearts of optimistic but critical thinking people.

To define this particular mind shift I gave this the name/brand ‘YOI:’ As it stands therefore, ‘We’ as human beings are in a conscious global transition.' by Annouk Post
